Working Together to Keep People Safe and Prepare for a Return to the Workplace

Teamwork is a core value of Triovest, and at no time has our commitment to collaborating with our investors, clients, tenants and colleagues been more important than during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the onset of the crisis, we worked with our tenants to protect communities and ensure tenants could access and return to Triovest-managed properties with confidence.

Although the entire Triovest organization was involved in managing pandemic-related impacts, Triovest created a Tenant Reintegration Committee to lead the efforts. We applied the same knowledge and insights used to help develop a Pandemic Response Plan in 2008 for BOMA to combat the spread of the virus and support the safe return to our properties. Through their participation on industry committees, some members of our senior team strategized and developed best practices relating to safety in buildings and tenant reintegration.

Onsite communications – including signage and floor decals to assist with physical distancing and instructions on healthy handwashing and risk reduction actions – were installed and maintained across our properties, and the Triovest team continuously monitored the demands of the ever-changing situation.

To support our efforts, Triovest voluntarily joined POST Promise – a national, bilingual private sector–led initiative designed to help Canadians confidently and safely shop and work. As part of our participation in POST Promise, we commit to implement and practice the following five key steps to workplace safety at all our properties:

  1. Maintain physical distancing of at least two metres
  2. Stay home if unwell and actively self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19
  3. Practise respiratory etiquette (coughing into the bend of your arm or wearing a face mask when social distancing is not possible)
  4. Clean and disinfect regularly
  5. Wash and sanitize hands for at least 20 seconds

Reintegrating businesses into a post-lockdown world is every bit as new and challenging as the initial response to a novel virus. Proper plans, combined with heightened awareness and shared values, continue to guide how we tackle these challenges together and make the reintegration process as smooth and safe as possible.
